Linden Homes helps fund festive fun at primary school in Didcot

Linden Homes helped a Didcot primary school host an afternoon of fundraising festive fun for the local community.

The housebuilder, which is building new homes at Didcot Grove, off Didcot Road in the town, donated £250 to Ladygrove Park Primary School towards its outdoor Christmas Market on Saturday 2 December.

The event was organised by the school’s PTA team PALS (Parents at Ladygrove School) to raise funds for the school, in total the school raised £2150.19. The money raised will be put towards creating a peaceful outside area for the children to use during breaktime and buying 30 new laptops.

The money donated by Linden Homes went towards the cost of organising the event including buying raffle tickets and gifts from Santa and his elves.

Jenny Cole, from PALS, said: “We reached out to local businesses asking for raffle donations and Linden Homes generously offered to contribute towards the costs of running the fair, which allowed the money raised to go straight to the school.

“The children at the school really enjoyed themselves. They were able to make reindeer food to put out on Christmas Eve and to see Santa in his grotto where they received a gift. We are really grateful to Linden Homes and our other sponsors as they allowed us to make the fair more festive and special for the local community.”

The Christmas Market featured stallholders from local businesses, games such as ‘name the elf’ and ‘guess the weight of the cake’, and refreshments such as mulled wine and hot chocolate.

Alix Laflin, marketing manager for Vistry Thames Valley, said: “When we heard from PALS that they were looking for help towards their Christmas fair, we were happy to offer our support to fund the running costs of the event.

“This time of year is all about bringing people together, which is what the school’s Christmas Market has done, and it’s great that it’s also helped raise money which will be used to help enhance the children’s experience of school all year long.”

Linden Homes is building 76 new homes at Didcot Grove as well as providing public open space and a children’s play area.
