Linden Homes Donation Boosts Access Hopes For Swanmore Hall
15 Dec 2015

A fundraising campaign to build a ramp making access easier for wheelchairs and pushchairs at a church hall in Swanmore has been boosted by a donation worth hundreds of pounds from Hampshire-based housebuilder Linden Homes Southern.

The £500 injection into St Barnabas’ Church’s efforts for the Paterson Centre, in Church Road, brings the total raised to just over £2,050, with hopes of further grants and collections to reach the final target.

The building is used by a wide variety of village groups with regular activities including a nursery and pre-school, Guides, coffee mornings and clubs for bridge, pilates, art, and lace, as well as a meeting venue for Meon Valley Carers. As well as the hall, the Paterson Centre is also home to Barnaby’s coffee shop, a church and community volunteer-run venture which attracts a wide range of users.

St Barnabas’ is not far from award-winning Linden Homes’ Scholar’s Grange development off New Road. When the company saw it could help it contacted the church and offered to contribute to the ramp funds.

Vicar, Claire Towns said: “We are really keen to be able to build this ramp as soon as possible in order to make the excellent facilities we have here even more accessible and available for a wider range of users. Huge thanks to Linden Homes for their contribution.”

Tina Chalk, Linden Homes Southern marketing manager, added: “The Paterson Centre is a highly valued community facility for Swanmore, so we wanted to help make it accessible for everyone, including wheelchair users and parents with prams.

“We’re delivering brand new family homes at Scholar’s Grange which we think will be very popular, but we’re keen for our contribution to the village to go beyond the building site.”

Scholar’s Grange is a development of three, four and five-bedroom homes which has just been launched to the market. The houses’ architecture is inspired by the surrounding area and boasts Linden Homes’ customary high quality.

The location enjoys easy access by road to Winchester, Fareham and Southampton. Botley station is four miles away; Hedge End and Swanwick are also less than six miles away.
