Three of the UK’s largest housebuilders Linden Homes, Redrow Homes and Taylor Wimpey have raised a combined £107,000 for the Youth Adventure Trust after completing the second annual Housebuilder Mountain Marathon. Teams from the three housebuilders sponsors and other companies in the industry tackled a gruelling 26-mile course over two days across the Lake District’s rugged terrain, including the ascent of Scaffel Pike, England’s highest mountain.
The money raised by the housebuilders will go to the Youth Adventure Trust, supporting around 30 vulnerable children throughout their three-year Programme. The Youth Adventure Programme is a series of residential adventure camps that give young people the chance to take part in a range of activities, work in a team, experience group living and challenge themselves in a new environment.
A duo from Linden Homes South East took part in the challenge, Ioan Ciobanu, Site Manager from Linden Homes South East, who completed the challenge said: “Raising such a large amount of money for such a worthy cause has eased the pain of the gruelling trek through the Lake District.”
Managing Director of Linden Homes South East, Darren Maddox, commented: “It’s fantastic to see our colleagues from across the industry come together and raise money for such a worthwhile cause. The Youth Adventure Trust provide vital support to some of our country’s most vulnerable children and gives them an opportunity to challenge themselves and grow in confidence. Well done to everybody who took part, it was a fantastic team effort to complete such a huge challenge.”
