Help To Buy Deals At Howden Green
02 Dec 2013

There are great deals to be had at Howden Green, the Linden Homes’ development in Howden-le-Wear, with only three properties remaining – including the show home – and the government backed Help to Buy initiative available.

The Wear has been designed in response to customer demand for traditional family properties on a site made up of homes of a mews or townhouse style.

The layout provides an entrance leading into the hallway, which gives access to the dining room, a downstairs w.c. and the garage. The hall then turns into the heart of the house, the living room, the kitchen / family room with state of the art fittings and plenty of space in which to relax and enjoy the south facing garden via French doors.

Stairs to the first floor reveal a spacious and expertly designed master bedroom offering stunning views over the County Durham countryside, built in his and her wardrobes and a contemporary en suite with spacious shower.  There are three further bedrooms - two doubles and one generous single, as well as the family bathroom.

The other home available is the three storey, three bedroom Greta town house.  From the entrance, a long hallway leads to the contemporary kitchen/diner and beyond, through French doors, the garden.  The hall also provides access to the garage, two storage closets, a downstairs w.c. and stairs to the first floor.

Here, there is a generously sized lounge and the master bedroom, complete with built in his and her wardrobes and an en suite bathroom - also accessible from the hall via “Jack and Jill” doors.

The second floor has two further bedrooms - one double, the other a generous single – and the family bathroom.

All the properties at Howden Green have efficient gas fired central heating systems plus high levels of insulation, designed to keep homes warm and cosy and heating bills under control.

Just over 10 miles from Durham City centre and close to Crook and Bishop Auckland, this small development - by the company just named Large Housebuilder of the Year at the Housebuilder Awards - offers traditional homes in a rural setting.

*  Help to Buy is subject to a number of terms and conditions which are available on request from Linden Homes or at www.helptobuy.org.uk  The scheme provides an equity loan from the government of up to 20% of the cost of a new-build home.  The buyer needs a minimum 5% deposit.

There are no loan fees for the first five years and after that a charge of 1.75% of the loan’s value is levied.  This fee will increase every year by 1% more than the Retail Price Index.  The equity loan must be repaid when the home is sold or at the end of the mortgage period.

The figures quoted in this article are based on Help to Buy providing the full 20% share of the house price, a 5% deposit from the client and a standard 25 year mortgage term.
