Hats Off To Site Manager Piet On Winning His Second Pride In The Job Award
01 Jul 2019

The site manager at one of Linden Homes Midlands’ most successful regional developments has been rewarded for his professionalism with an NHBC award.

Piet Cloete (pictured) is one of only 68 site managers in the East region to have won a Quality Award in the first round of NHBC Pride in the Job Awards 2019.

Now in their 39th year, the awards are the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry, dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standards in house building.

Piet, who oversees the successful Buckby Grange development in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, said: “Progressing so far in this industry competition means an incredible amount to me, but it’s been a team effort to maintain such high standards. Without everyone’s commitment we couldn’t achieve a really well run and highly successful sell-out development or deliver top quality homes on what has been a really successful development.

“What’s particularly encouraging about this award is that it highlights the determination we have at every step of the way to deliver homes that our customers enjoy living in. It’s really good to have that publicly recognised by the industry.”

And Piet was so delighted at the announcement that he hosted a hog roast at the development to celebrate and thank everyone who has contributed to the success of Buckby Grange.

Linden Homes Midlands production manager Rob Spittles added: “Pride in the Job recognises the hugely important role site managers play in delivering high quality new homes and receiving a Quality Award is a great achievement for any site manager. Piet’s role is undoubtedly one of the toughest in house building and his drive for excellence is very much at the heart of the competition.

“We wish him the very best of luck in the next stage of the competition.”

Piet – who also won this award last year - will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards which will be announced at events across the UK later this year.

The 450 Quality Award winners across the UK represent the top three per cent of the sixteen thousand site managers entered into the competition. Being selected by NHBC as one of the UK’s top site managers is testament to their commitment to building homes of outstanding quality for the benefit of the people who will live in them.

Over the past 12 months judges have assessed the skills demonstrated by the site managers in their day-to-day work, covering six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.
