Happy Housebuyers Take Their Community Pride On-line

A retired couple who moved into Linden Homes’ new Two Coves development, near St Austell in Cornwall, were so delighted with the area they have set up a website to spread the word.

Keen walkers John and Mary Peddicord had been looking to move from Essex to a home on the Cornish coast for several years, inspired by 10 years of happy holidays there.

They had originally been searching for homes and apartments along St Austell Bay but instead chose a five-bedroom house at Two Coves at Duporth with unique access to the beach.

In fact, they were so pleased with their new neighbourhood that they have put their skills as former IT developers to good use by launching www.duporthvillage.org to highlight the attractions of the area.

As part of the Ramblers Association one thing that drew us to Two Coves was the location and everything it had to offer, it was the prettiest development I’ve ever seen. We want to foster a sense of community and celebrate all that is on our doorstep through our website,explains Mary.

The site contains over 50 contacts to local clubs, events, bars and restaurants plus a neighbourhood services directory. John has also incorporated a village forum for local musicians, gardeners, artists and poets.

We have never lived in a neighbourhood were everybody is new. On our daily walks we have met some really interesting people and found out a lot about our surroundings. We wanted to provide a one-stop shop for everything you would like to know about the area and things to do,says John.
