Golf Day Fundraising Drive Chips In Over £35,000 For Emily Ash Trust

A fundraising golf day organised by Caterham-based Linden Homes South East is expected to have collected more than £35,000 in aid of a young people’s cancer charity based in Surrey.

The Emily Ash Trust, which works to improve the lives of children and young people suffering with cancer, was the beneficiary of the event held on Friday September 4th at Goodwood Downs Golf Course, near Chichester.

Teams made up of Linden Homes’ employees and business partners competed in friendly rivalry for awards such as longest drive, nearest the pin, and an unclaimed £10,000 for anyone scoring a hole in one.

More money was raised at an evening dinner, where the guest speaker was England rugby star Jeff Probyn. An auction sold off prizes including a helicopter ride, Chelsea and Arsenal tickets, an Apple Watch and a five-star dining experience on the luxury Spitbank Fort in The Solent, near Portsmouth.

Darren Maddox, Linden Homes South East managing director, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who took part in what was a very successful event. We raised thousands of pounds for a very deserving charity in a fantastic atmosphere.

“We organise these golf days every year and I think they get better every time. Linden Homes is a housebuilder but we’re determined to contribute more than bricks and mortar, and this is an example of that community philosophy in action.”
