The group behind Gnosall’s successful Best Kept Village campaign has rolled out the welcome mat by unveiling a new village sign.
The sign, which features the village’s St Lawrence's Church, the High Street and the Boat Inn Bridge, has been installed on Sellman Street – opposite the village hall.
Judges visited more than 40 communities across Staffordshire before awarding the Best Kept Large Village crown to Gnosall for the second year running.
A number of businesses in Gnosall contributed financially towards the creation of the new sign, including Linden Homes, which is building its development The Hollies off Knightley Road.
Dave Clarke, who co-ordinated the Best Kept Village campaign for Gnosall, said: “We’ve been keen to create a showpiece which celebrates Gnosall’s Best Kept Village success and we’re delighted to turn that into a reality.
“The new sign is in the heart of the village, where it’s easily visible and can be most appreciated. It has been well received and I hope that it gives villagers a great sense of pride.
“We’ve received a lot of support from the village’s businesses and every company which has generously donated towards the sign has been added to a plaque.”
The new welcome sign cost around £2,500 to build and install.
Linda Huntington, Head of Sales for Linden Homes West Midlands, said: “The new welcome sign is a wonderful addition to Gnosall and it is a project which we’re very proud to have supported.
“It reflects the hard work the group has put into winning the Best Kept Village crown and is a fitting way to celebrate that achievement.”
