Linden Homes’ Living @ The Bristol County Ground development has received the seal of approval from former Gloucestershire Captain David Graveney. He and his wife, Julie, were so impressed they’ve purchased a two-bedroom apartment with a pitch-side view.
The scheme of 147 one- and two-bedroom apartments forms part of the exciting redevelopment of the Gloucester County Cricket Ground in Bishopston, Bristol. By coincidence, the Graveneys opted for an apartment in the Graveney block – named after David’s uncle, Tom Graveney, who was an England Test and Gloucestershire cricket star in the 1950s and 60s.
David Graveney, who was also chairman of the England Test selectors, (1997 until 2008) said: “This redevelopment scheme is very impressive and I am very pleased that it will enable the ground to become a world-class facility able to host international events.”
His wife, Julie, added: “I was keen to choose an apartment with a view similar to the one I enjoyed when I used to watch cricket here with my late father. I was thrilled when I found out about the link to the Graveney name as well.”
The unique location of the development has dictated the buildings’ form, which wraps around the eastern edge of the cricket ground to maximise the view across the pitch. The apartments are arranged in four blocks – named after Gloucestershire cricketing heroes; WG Grace, Walter Hammond, Gilbert Jessop and Tom Graveney.
