As North Yorkshire gears up for another season of ‘flower power’ – developer Linden Homes is once again supporting the annual Malton In Bloom contest.
With spring in the air in recent days, plans for Yorkshire in Bloom and the green-fingered community of Malton are in full swing.
This is the third year that Malton is entering the prestigious horticultural contest, with plans
to inject colour and vibrancy around the town through beautiful planting, hanging baskets and tubs; while getting another helping hand from Linden Homes East Yorkshire.
The task will involve over 200 floral displays, including dozens of hanging baskets and barrier planters adorning hot spots around Malton.
The developer, who are building a selection of three and four-bedroom homes at the Copperfields development on the site of the old showground at Pastures Lane, has again offered sponsorship to pay for some of the baskets and containers.
Linden Homes East Yorkshire regional sales manager Melanie Parker said: “As we have an association with the town, we are delighted to help sponsor the Malton In Bloom efforts. Many of our Copperfields existing residents and newcomers will certainly benefit from this amazing project once summer arrives.”
Gail Cook, clerk to Malton Town Council and member of the Malton In Bloom team, added: “We would like to say thank you to all the businesses and residents that support us in making Malton look fabulously floral over the summer months.
“We have once again submitted Malton into the Yorkshire in Bloom competition. With a strong team of volunteers, our hard work was recognised by winning the Gold and Category Winner Awards. We also won the Yorkshire Rose Discretionary award for Commercial entry supporting the community. All this would not have been possible without funding from local and national businesses.”
The next few months will see the plants being grown ready for planting out in late spring/ early summer before the all important first round of judging in July.
