Cheshire West and Chester Council has granted housing and regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships, which markets its homes under the award winning Linden Homes banner, planning permission to redevelop the former Greyhound Stadium in Ellesmere Port.
Warrington-based Galliford Try Partnerships acquired the 10-acre site, located off Thornton Road, this month. The redevelopment will see Partnerships create 141 mixed tenure homes, including one-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses, as well as open spaces and new access points.
The scheme was unanimously approved at the Cheshire West and Chester Council strategic planning committee on Tuesday 5th July, and demolition of the historic site will begin in August 2016.
Of the 141 houses approved, 96 homes will be built for sale under the Linden Homes brand, while the remaining 45 will be affordable homes built for Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Darren Leary, development director at Galliford Try Partnerships, said: “Following a detailed planning process, we are delighted that Cheshire West and Chester Council has granted approval for the redevelopment of the Greyhound Stadium. This scheme is instrumental in the continued redevelopment and regeneration of Ellesmere Port and we look forward to progressing work on site imminently.”
