First Homes Go On Sale At New Development In East Hanney
22 Feb 2022

The first homes have been released onto the market at a new housing development in East Hanney.

Linden Homes is building 48 new homes at The Nurseries on land off Steventon Road at the eastern edge of the village.

The developer, which is part of the Vistry Group along with Bovis Homes and Vistry Partnerships, is to deliver 32 properties for private sale and 16 affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.

A range of two, three and four-bedroom homes are being built on the 6.6-acre site to the north of Steventon Road Nursery after Vale of White Horse District Council granted planning permission for the development in November 2020.

George Stevens, sales manager for Vistry Cotswolds, said: “There has already been a high level of interest in the range of new homes we are delivering at The Nurseries.

“The picturesque location, paired with the wide variety of much needed homes we’re delivering at the development has mustered interest from a wide variety of purchasers across the local area.

“There is already a strong sense of community here, and we’re looking forward to continue building this over the coming months and years.”

As part of the planning agreement for the development, Linden Homes is to make an investment of almost £500,000 towards the improvement of local services, the village school and highways, through a Section 106 agreement.

The developer is to provide contributions of £275,000 towards primary education facilities, £95,000 for affordable housing, and over £49,000 for public transport services.

Linden Homes will also contribute £52,000 for highway infrastructure improvements and over £16,000 for the installation and maintenance of public art at an off-site location within the parish of East Hanney.

A community infrastructure levy totalling more than £500,000 is also payable by the developer as part of the planning agreement for The Nurseries.

George said: “The funding we are providing through the planning agreement to support education and infrastructure will ensure the benefits of this new development to the local area go beyond the provision of high-quality new housing.

“We see ourselves as being very much part of the local community and have demonstrated this by laying the foundations for the village school’s new summerhouse and donating £1,000 towards this exciting project.

“We also take our green credentials seriously and have entered into a partnership with the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment. Our donation of £57,600 will help fund off-site biodiversity enhancements, to further benefit the local wildlife. We are encouraging more wildlife onto The Nurseries by installing swift bricks in houses, providing bat and barn owl roosts, and installing hedgehog highways on the site.”

A selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes are currently available at The Nurseries.
