Exeter site manager wins Seal of Excellence Award

Marcus Ford has won a prestigious NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in Job Seal of Excellence Award for building homes of exceptional quality in Exeter.

The site manager was assessed across six key areas of site management at Linden Homes’ Tithe Barn development, including: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise and health and safety.

With over 20 years’ experience in the house building industry, Marcus has been hailed as one of the very best site managers in the UK. After he was presented with a Quality Award, he was singled out at the next stage of the competition by winning a coveted Seal of Excellence.

The 44 year old lives in the city and joined the company in 2016 as an assistant site manager before he was promoted in 2019. He now manages one of the region’s biggest developments and is responsible for a team of 50 people.

Marcus, whose mum also works in house building, commented: “I’m delighted to have won a Seal of Excellence Award. We’re all so proud of what we’re achieving at Tithe Barn; it’s fantastic to be recognised and I can’t thank my team enough for the support.

“I love being out on site and dealing with all the different trades, but the best part of the job is seeing happy customers move in, there’s not a feeling like it – just utter pride. Knowing we’ve built a family a quality house and they’re going to make it a home is wonderful.”

Managing director Paul Moran commented: “Marcus is an exemplary site manager and we’re very proud of his Seal of Excellence win. He delivers fantastic, high quality homes and fully deserves the recognition.

“From introducing bee bricks and helping the local ecosystem, to mentoring members of the team, Marcus is an outstanding site manager with an exceptional eye for detail.”

Marcus works for Vistry’s South West region, which builds Bovis and Linden properties. Three of his colleagues were also presented with Quality Awards: Gary French at Blackmore Meadows in Stalbridge, Tom Jupp at Monument View in Wellington and Ollie Smart at Bay View in Northam. Gary was also awarded with a Seal of Excellence for the quality of his work.

Marcus is delivering Tithe Barn, a popular development of contemporary new homes on the outskirts of Exeter that uses a state-of-the-art district heating network. Across the entire development, it is estimated the energy efficient system will provide 4,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide savings per year – or the equivalent of removing 1,000 cars from the road.
