Doing it for her dad – Linden Homes conveyancing co-ordinator Nicky Wilkinson has completed a muddy mission to help boost funds for Cancer Research UK.
Nicky, who is based at the East Yorkshire head office in Hessle, donned her pink tutu and sense of fun to complete the recent 5km Pretty Muddy event in memory of her dad (David Wilkinson) – who sadly passed away earlier this year.
Teaming up with friends and joining Grimsby-based fundraising team ‘The Weelsby Fillies’ from a local horse-riding group, Nicky was among the many to get down and dirty in a bid to beat cancer.
Nicky has more than trebled her target, with her list of sponsors including Linden Homes East Yorkshire, leading to a total of almost £400.
She said: “I became interested in doing this after my dad died of cancer in March this year. Although I’d never done Pretty Muddy, I once did the Race For Life and dad thought it highly amusing in my case and called it 'run for your life'. I decided to up the stakes this time in memory of dad as he was full of fun and would have found it highly entertaining that myself and partners in crime for the event Jane Ingham and Sam Smith would be crawling through mud and climbing over inflatable objects.
“It was great fun and thanks to everyone who has supported me so far, it is very much appreciated.”
