The site manager at Ashdown Gardens in Crowborough has achieved his ambition of winning a prized award from the National House Building Council (NHBC).
Tom Church has received a Quality Award in the annual Pride in the Job (PITJ) competition, which is run by the new home warranty and insurance provider.
Every site registered with the NHBC is automatically considered for the awards each year. More than 8,000 sites across the UK were inspected, and only 444 site managers were awarded the accolade this year.
Tom, 32, from Maidstone, has been working on the Linden Homes location in East Sussex for a year and says the build has gone smoothly.
“We’ve got a great team here and they have all been here with me since day one. We have a great team ethos,” he said. “It’s a big well done to all of them as they have all played a part in this award win.”
Tom joined Vistry Group, which includes Linden Homes, Bovis Homes and Countryside Homes, last year. The first site he worked on for the company was the Berengrave Gardens development in Rainham. He has come close to winning a PITJ award previously, so he was determined to do all he could to win it this year.
Ashdown Gardens is the first Vistry site that Tom has managed right from the start of construction, and he received his award one year to the day since starting work at the development.
He will now go on to be considered for the Seal of Excellence award later in the year, alongside other Quality Award winners.
Linden Homes is building 119 homes at Ashdown Gardens, on land off Eridge Road. When complete, it will feature landscaped open areas covering more than 40 per cent of the 16-acre site. This will include a central public open space with a children’s play area.
There are currently three and four-bedroom homes for sale at Ashdown Gardens, with prices starting from £399,000.
