There were Ice Creams all round when Galliford Try Partnerships North and Bedlington West End First School got together to celebrate success at this years Children North East ‘Sandcastle Challenge’.
In the competition which teamed construction experts with school children to build Lindisfarne Gospel themed sandcastles on the beach at South Shields, the Great Park based company was awarded the best business partner trophy.
And the youngsters were also winners, picking up one of the top prizes for their work on the day – a sand sculpture of the apostle John.
Altogether over 1800 children from 57 schools worked with their partner organisations to build sandcastles on Sandhaven Beach. Later, the Sandcastle Ball, attended by construction partners, raised over £32,000 for Children North East who is the region’s oldest independent children’s charity.
The money will go towards helping disadvantaged children, young people and their families who are supported through a wide range of Children North East Projects around the region.
