From the classroom to the show home – youngsters from Burton Latimer have been getting an insight into the world of construction, thanks to Linden Homes Midlands.
Around 40 five and six year olds from the nearby St Mary’s C of E Primary Academy – accompanied by Year 1 teacher Tom Wilson – were welcomed to the town’s Centurion Grove development during a special visit.
Complete with hard hats and hi-vis vests, the children were able to see construction work going on, learn a little about health and safety issues and gain an insight into what goes into building houses.
Over refreshments, they chatted with Linden Homes’ sales executives Eileen Irwin and Coralie Taylor about the selling aspect of new homes, and how a show home is designed.
Teacher Tom Wilson said: “We are delighted to receive an invitation from Linden Homes to come and have a look at the work they are doing within the town, and relatively close to the school.
“The children really enjoyed learning about the construction process and chatting with the friendly Linden team – which provoked lots of interesting questions.”
Linden Homes’ area sales manager Karen Stockwell said: “Although we have been involved with and supported a number of community initiatives, this was our first school visit to site.
“We were really pleased to welcome the children and teachers to the development, and hope they enjoyed their brief insight into our industry.”
