Following 30 years of dedicated service as a quality manager, project manager and production director, Clive Scourfield has retired from Linden Homes.
A trained architect technician and former night club manager, Clive has held many roles within the housebuilding industry from site manager at Barratt Homes and SNW, where he won a coveted NHBC Top 100 Award in 1987 for a development in Ipplepen, to quality manager at Linden Homes.
Approached by Midas Construction in 1989, Clive was then promoted to production director when Midas Homes and Gerald Wood Homes were formed (later re-branded as Linden Homes), winning a further NHBC Quality Award for a development he built in Heathfield, Newton Abbot.
Commenting on his retirement, Clive said: “I’ve had a fantastic 30 years with the company from its journey as a small local housebuilder to a large PLC company. My job has always filled me with incredible pride and I love thinking ‘I built that house’ when I drive by – I even bought one of the homes as an investment property about 10 years ago and still own it to this day.”
Clive spent the last five years as the company’s quality manager, inspecting the homes at various stages throughout the build process, ensuring they are all built to the same high standards.
Clive added: “As I approached retirement, I felt quite passionate about passing on my experience to site managers by sharing best practice, giving tips on organisation and putting a structure in place to ensure they can achieve a consistently high standard – it’s been a real pleasure.”
Bradley Davison, managing director at Linden Homes, said: “Clive has worn many hats over the years and has always brought his wealth of experience and his calm professionalism to every job. 30 years’ service is impressive and the company has benefitted enormously from him. The knowledge he’s imparted to the site managers has been invaluable, he has an eye for detail and always has time for everyone.”

Clive lives in Torquay with his wife and has two daughters. He’ll be spending his spare time on the water and holidaying with family.
