Christmas came early for a young people’s cancer charity based in Surrey when it was handed a cheque for more than £45,000 by Linden Homes South East.
The money presented to the Emily Ash Trust was raised at the award-winning housebuilder’s annual charity golf day held in the autumn at Goodwood Downs Golf Course, near Chichester.
Representatives from the trust visited Linden Homes’ offices in Caterham, Surrey on Friday December 18th to thank the team and collect the funds raised, which have been added to since the event.
Paul Antino, patron of the Emily Ash Trust, said: “We wholeheartedly wish to extend our thanks and appreciation to Linden Homes for choosing our charity as part of their fund-raising golf day.
“Our charity is run by volunteers and we very much rely on the donations of fundraisers for the monies that allows us to provide the support functions, events and treats that attempt to bring some form of happiness and positivity at a time when children, suffering with cancer, and their families are going through very tough times.
“This fantastic sum raised by Linden Homes will enable us to provide a wonderful range of uplifting events and treats for the children and their families in 2016.”
The charity golf day saw teams of Linden Homes’ employees and business partners collect the grand total through challenges such as longest drive, and an evening dinner and auction, with England rugby star Jeff Probyn as guest speaker.
Darren Maddox, Linden Homes South East managing director, said: “We look forward to our charity golf day every year, but this presentation shows what it’s all about – raising money for a fantastic local cause.
“We chose Emily Ash Trust to benefit because it does such brilliant work in the community. As a local company, we’re determined to give them the support and funding to help them to reach even more young people.”
