Boyne Hill Infant School Children See Local New Homes Created
12 Mar 2014

61 children from Boyne Hill Infant School have had the opportunity to see up close (and in complete safety – of course) how new homes are built. The children from year two were kitted out in high visibility jackets and shown around Linden Homes’ Boyn Hill Gardens site on Boyn Hill Road.

The six and seven year old pupils were able to see how the builders have cleared the ground, laid the foundations and then started to build the homes brick by brick.

Robert Rodney and Jim McGrath, the site managers took the children round to show them the homes currently in progress and explained to them some of the safety measures that have to be in place to prevent building site accidents.

The children were invited to draw a picture of the sights they saw at Boyn Hill Gardens.

Mr Phillips the children’s teacher said “We want to thank Linden Homes for hosting the children at Boyn Hill Gardens site, the event was a huge success.

“The children really enjoyed their visit and were interested to see the work going on at the development. They loved the pencil sharpeners giveaway and also the high visibility jackets which I’m sure they will enjoy wearing on their journeys to school.”

Robert Rodney from Linden Homes said that the children had been extremely well behaved: “We were delighted to welcome the youngsters from Boyne Hill Infant School. It was a great chance to talk though the crucial safety lessons which is particularly important to teach at a young age.

“Getting local people involved in our developments is very important to us to help build sustainable communities not just quality homes. Events like this give an insight into the houses, jobs and investment we are delivering.”

Linden Homes has donated £500 towards the school plans to make a series of improvements to the playground, including opening the school’s existing pond area into a new reflection garden for the children to use during the day.

Once Boyn Hill Gardens is completed it will consist of a mix of three and four bedroom new houses and one and two bedroom apartments.

Set in a wide, leafy and peaceful road, the development is flanked by mature trees and is close to the beautiful All Saints Church on neighbouring Boyn Hill Road.

The development is within easy reach of the busy town centre and is well placed for commuters: From Maidenhead station, you can be at Paddington in around 45 minutes. The A4 and M4 to London, Slough and Reading are also easy to get to.
