Bovis Homes Makes It Easy For One Local Primary School To Participate In Walk To School Month
26 Oct 2020

This Walk to School month, award winning house builder Bovis Homes (part of Vistry Group) made it easier for one school to take part in the nationwide event. Bovis Homes has donated 60 high-vis jackets to Northgate Primary School, Bishop’s Stortford, for the walking challenge aimed at primary school children.

Bovis Homes is currently creating the Stortford Fields development, which is less than a mile from the primary school. The developer was delighted to support the pupils of Year Four as they take part in the awareness month, by gifting the high-vis vests for them to wear while they are out and about.

The initiative is a fun and engaging campaign to encourage children and their families to build exercise into their daily routine and raise awareness amongst children of the impacts of motor traffic on the environment.

Jason Colmer, Sales and Marketing Director at Vistry Eastern said: “It’s been a real pleasure to work with our neighbours at Northgate Primary School. The initiative is a great way to get both children and parents active and promote the many health and wellbeing benefits of exercise. With as many as 400,000 children and their families leaving the car at home for the week there are benefits to the environment too, by decreasing traffic congestion and helping to reduce CO2 emissions. By donating the high vis jackets, we can also help ensure the children are visible and safe which we hope encourages them to take part. Northgate Primary is so close to Stortford Fields we hope to see many families being able to safely make the short journey from their new home to school on foot.”

Mrs Katy Jones Deputy Head Teacher of Northgate Primary School commented: “We love getting involved with Walk to School Month and the children enjoy it. Healthy living and environmental awareness are key parts of the curriculum. Equally important is promoting the importance of safety so the bright high-vis vests provided by Bovis Homes will be of great use, not only in this month but in encouraging children and families to make walking to school a regular part of their lives. It is a great way for the children to reach their recommended daily 60 minutes of physical activity and helps to set them up for a positive day in the classroom. Hopefully, we will see many more of our pupils take up walking to school as a free and easy way to build exercise into their days. Thank you, Bovis Homes!”

Stortford Fields offers a collection of three, four- and five-bedroom family homes which have already proved very popular for families with school aged children, especially with an excellent nearby primary school. There is also a selection of two-bedroom homes available. Many of the homes at Stortford Fields are available with Help to Buy and benefit from the Stamp Duty holiday. Each home comes with the reassurance of a 10-year NHBC warranty and two-year customer care warranty.

In the interest of the safety of customers and sales staff, visitors must book ahead to reinforce social distancing and limit the number of people in the sales office or show home at any one time. To book an appointment with a member of the team, visit here or call 01279 933035.
