Linden Homes West Midlands has, this week, been considering the wellbeing of wildlife close to its latest development of brand new homes in Garrets Green.
The award-winning developer has joined forces with two Birmingham-based schools and donated large bags of bird food and feeders for the pupils to hang on trees within their school grounds.
Children from Yardley Primary School in Yardley and Blakesley Hall Primary School in Stirchley, will now take full responsibility for keeping their feathered friends fed, especially now that the weather has turned cooler and the ground has becomes harder for the birds to locate their own food.
Linda Huntington, sales manager for Linden Homes West Midlands, said: “Wildlife is extremely important to us, especially in our inner-city areas, and so by working with both schools we hope that the children will learn that looking after wildlife – especially during the winter months – is as important as it is in the summer.”
Mr. Mason, deputy head teacher at Blakesley Hall Primary School, said: “The kind donation of the food and feeders by Linden Homes is something which we feel is important and gives the children a certain amount of responsibility by ensuring they are topped-up. We will try to include as many pupils as possible in this exercise.”
Ms. Kate West, teacher from Yardley Primary School, said: “The children were very excited to take receipt of the food and feeders and will, I’m sure, enjoy keeping the birds fed and keeping an eye on the species of birds that come to visit.”
