Beeches Crescent in Chelmsford has played host to sixty potential young construction workers of the future: Two Year 6 classes from Westlands Primary School donned high visibility vests and hard hats so they could see a working building site in action.
The school is a very close neighbour to the new development and Linden Homes thought it would be a good idea to invite some of the older children to find out how a construction site operates and what building new homes entails.
Gill Bennison, the Head Teacher, said the visit was a real eye opener for the children:
“Building sites are fascinating places for everyone – especially young people - so we are very grateful to Linden Homes for allowing the children to see what happens on site. With a visit like this, they got to safely see what goes on behind the scenes when new homes are being built. It was great experience for them especially as they even got to have a go at building their own wall!”
Linden Homes’ David White is the site manager at Beeches Crescent:
“We were delighted to be able to show the children around. We are right near the school so they may have been aware of the vehicles, deliveries and materials coming in and out of the site. They may even know someone who works here. They could well have heard some of the building activity too – so this will give them a chance to see what has been going on over here.”
Phase 1 of Beeches Crescent has now all sold out however a new collection of 3, 4 and 5 bedroom semi-detached and detached homes will be launching later in the year.
