Apartment Living Available To Students Taking Up A University Place In Lincoln
13 Jun 2014

WHILE the start of the school summer holiday is around the corner – for many, thoughts of starting university in the autumn term are already high on the agenda.

With the anxiety of a new environment, new people and standing on their own two feet, for parents of students looking to take up a university or college place in Lincoln – accommodation will also be an important factor.

Choosing the right property, as a short or long-term investment, is crucial - but with the Help to Buy scheme Linden Homes Midlands has the perfect solution.

The popular Oasis development currently boasts a range of desirable two bedroom apartments, which are ideal as investment properties and equally suitable for students – possibly even those sharing – with the location within walking distance of the city centre, university and the many Lincoln amenities.

The 20 chic Kingfisher apartments may present a viable option for parents looking to buy a home that could be used as student accommodation for their children.

Earlier this year, the Chancellor announced a further extension to the popular cost curbing Help to Buy 1 incentive.

This had already been extended until 2016 – but is now expected to see an estimated 120,000 sales of new homes during the additional four years.

Here’s how it works:

  • The government will lend you up to 20 per cent of the value of your property through an equity loan, which can be repaid at any time or on the sale of your home.
  • The Help to Buy (1) scheme is available on new build homes only, worth up to £600,000. A Help to Buy 2 scheme is in place for second hand homes.
  • Customers need only a minimum five per cent deposit.
  • You don’t have to be a first time buyer to be eligible.
  • Buyers only need to secure up to a 75 per cent mortgage from a bank or building society.

Linden Homes (Midlands) sales director Chris Roads said: “With such a high student community in the city of Lincoln, we anticipate the parents of many of those taking up a place in September will be looking for safe, stylish and affordable accommodation for their children.

“Our range of apartments, many of which are ready to move into now, tick all the boxes – and provide an ideal opportunity for parents to offer assistance to their children, as well a benefiting from a new home in the long term.

“The extension of the Help to Buy scheme earlier this year is positive move for people who are looking to step onto or move up the housing ladder to a brand new home.

“Help to Buy has been hugely popular and successful across our regional developments since its introduction just over a year ago, with numerous customers benefiting from the financial help it offers.”
