A first time buyer at Linden Homes’ Emerge development in Devonport has used Help to Buy and discovered that it’s cheaper to buy than rent.
Abi Cassidy, 28, a fabricator and welder from Plymouth, bought a two bedroom house at Emerge for £145,000 at the end of June. Speaking about her move, Abi said: “I used to rent a one bedroom apartment in Devonport for £370 a month and find it unbelievable that I now own my very own two bedroom house and spend under £300 per month on my mortgage. Not only do I save £75 a month but I have an extra bedroom and my own house – it really is amazing.
“My new home is superb, the design is fantastic and I definitely never want to rent again. I love the area and it’s close to work – so the whole move has been one of the most sensible things I’ve ever done.
“I would absolutely recommend Linden Homes, I’m deaf and the sales executives have been so helpful, especially when it comes to the Help to Buy scheme. I’ve noticed a reduction in my energy bills too, so it’s been a savvy investment.”
