Originally from Lebanon, Pearla Zoueini (28) and Adam Beainy (39) had been living in a one bedroom rental flat in Canning Town since 2016 but the upcoming arrival of their first child prompted the couple to find their first family home which they struggled to find until they came across Linden Homes’ Brunel Street Works.
The couple started their search for the perfect starter home over three years ago, viewing multiple apartments and homes in Canning Town and West London but were finding it increasingly hard to find the perfect home which ticked all the right boxed for them. Pearla explains: “As we had lived in the Canning Town area for so long, we wanted to find a home which would have the same excellent travel connections yet with the added convenience of being a spacious and new built home for our growing family. The couple viewed and reserved a three-bedroom apartment at Brunel Street Works in November 2019 and moved into their apartment in December 2020.The young family always intended to use the Help to Buy scheme to take their first step on the property ladder and were able to use the full 40% London Government loan alongside a 5% deposit and 55% mortgage to secure their new home.
Buying their new home with the assistance of the Help to Buy initiative and setting permanent roots in Canning Town also meant that the couple could fulfil their lifelong dream of starting their own business in an area which they were familiar with. In September 2019, just before reserving their new home at Brunel Street Works, the ambitious couple successfully opened their Lebanese restaurant, Petit Café, across the road from their new home which has proven to be a roaring success with the local community ever since. Adam said: “We are delighted that we were able to finally realise our dream of owning our own business after many years of working in a corporate setting. Canning Town was the perfect location for us to invest in the future as this pocket of East London has evolved hugely over the past few years and achieved a huge area growth which looks promising for the legacy that we want to leave for our children.’’
Since moving to their new home, the couple have also welcomed a second child and their new home has proven to be exactly what they had wished for their growing family:
“The first feature that stood out for us when we first viewed the apartment was the amount of space that each room would provide, which has been a huge benefit for us with two young children. The whole layout of the home has been well-thought out and designed, for example the corridor is very spacious for roaming toddlers and there is so much storage throughout which we were really lacking in our previous one-bedroom flat. We also have an impressive balcony with views over Canary Wharf and the O2 which is particularly stunning at night.
“Beyond our home, we really appreciate all the other features that the development provides like the podium gardens where we can take the children to play and the close proximity to all the convenience shops, GP surgery and even a nursery which are all within a 15 minutes’ walk.”
