Houses, holidays and cars all feature in the list of Top 10 things Brits have been saving for during months of lockdown, according to a new report. Houses, holidays and cars all feature in the list of Top 10 things Brits have been saving for during months of lockdown, according to a new report.

A survey of 2,000 UK adults found that despite uncertainty about the economy, almost three-quarters are feeling positive about life after the pandemic.

Spending less money on non-essentials has revealed that the average adult surveyed claims to have saved £495 per month - with almost half of those aged between 25-35 saying they will put it towards a deposit on a house.

And with the Government’s Stamp Duty holiday set to continue well into 2021; developer Vistry Yorkshire (part of Vistry Group) can help buying and moving into a brand-new home less of a financial burden.

With a choice of locations across North, East, South and West Yorkshire, there is something for everyone. Coupled with a range of cost-curbing incentives, early autumn is the perfect chance to put those lockdown savings to great use.

  • Help to Buy* – customers require a minimum five per cent deposit. The government will lend you up to 20 per cent of the value of your property through an equity loan, which can be repaid at any time, or on the sale of your home. Buyers will only need to secure up to a 75 per cent mortgage from a bank or building society. The maximum home purchase is £600,000.
  • No stamp duty to pay! The Government has announced a Stamp Duty holiday on all homes up to £500,000 until 31 March 2021, which means you could save up to £15,000.
  • Key worker scheme to include those working for the NHS. Extended until the end of the year, the scheme includes £500 off for every £25,000 of the purchase price and flooring up to the value of £3,000 – and as a new-build property these could be combined with access to the Government’s own popular Help to Buy 5% deposit scheme.
