Linden Homes Foundation Marks Three Years In The Community
03 Jul 2015

The Linden Homes Foundation is celebrating three years since it was launched as a community initiative to spread the local benefits of housebuilding beyond the construction site.

The Foundation was set up by Linden Homes in June 2012 to unite the company’s involvement with local neighbourhoods and to show the real-life benefits of housebuilding.

An online archive – lindenhomes.co.uk/foundation – now contains more than 570 individual examples from around the company’s regions showing the positive effect on people, communities and the environment.

The Foundation was one of the factors which this year helped Linden Homes gain recognition among the top performers in NextGeneration – a national benchmark which puts the spotlight on housebuilders for their sustainability.

NextGeneration looks at the UK's 25 largest companies and assesses them on a wide range of 130 different criteria. Linden Homes picked up a silver medal for scoring above the 70 per cent mark.

Highlights have included donating materials for a farmer to build a lamb shelter; restoring a war memorial; building a hydro-electric river turbine; sponsoring sports clubs; refurbishing a cricket pavilion; and teaching safety lessons to pupils.

Linden Homes group managing director Andrew Richards said: “Marking three years of the Linden Homes Foundation gives us the opportunity to look back at what a positive impact it has had for local people around the country.

“As a result of The Linden Homes Foundation, communities have enjoyed the benefit of extra investment, support and our expertise. Groups who often get overlooked have found in us the little extra help they needed to make a big difference locally.

“Our efforts towards ever greater sustainability have been recognised and our credentials are strong. But we are always striving to be better as a business and as a neighbour to the communities where we build.”

NextGeneration is a membership based benchmark, consisting of many of the UK’s largest homebuilders, overseen by a high-level executive committee, the Homes and Communities Agency and UK Green Building Council.
