Home Is Where The Work Is - But How Will Your House Function After Lockdown?

With the Government’s advice to stay away from the office where possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the trend for working from looks set to stay.

According to official figures, 44 per cent of people are currently working from home – which is up from 12 per cent on the same time last year.

And in addition to the Office of National Statistics predicting that by 2020, 50 per cent of employees in the UK will be working remotely, 90 per cent of employees said they’d like to work from home at least some of the time.

Businesses have and are continuing to put measures in place and investing in digital tools to allow their staff to work from home; meaning that greater demand and opportunity for flexible and remote working may lead to many re-evaluating their priorities when looking for a new home.

With its sales offices and show homes now open under appointment-only social distancing rules, Linden Homes Yorkshire is able to promote its property portfolio to audiences looking for flexible space and / or home working options.

Sales director Steve Woomble said: “Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of people have been adapting their homes to serve as makeshift workplaces, schools and gyms. Those with a garden may have been spending more time outside because of the great weather, and those with limited outdoor space may be craving something bigger – particularly families with children.

“Young professionals in particular may be looking for ways to work from home when choosing a first their first home or moving into a new build.

“Whatever the scenario, we are all spending more time in our homes than ever before. By the very nature of new homes, people often decided to buy or rent because of its location; access to good schools or it being commuter friendly.

“But with fewer people now commuting and more people working from home, where people choose to live and how they want their houses to function may change after this prolonged period of lockdown.”

With developments across East Riding, South and North Yorkshire, Linden Homes Yorkshire (part of Vistry Group) is able to tick all the boxes for those looking for flexible living:
