Help To Buy Forces Scheme Lands At Linden Homes' Victory Fields
10 Jun 2014

Military families in the Cotswolds hoping to get on the property ladder need look no further than Linden Homes’ Victory Fields development in Upper Rissington, where the government-backed Forces Help to Buy scheme is giving people a step up.

Just over 11 miles from RAF Brize Norton, the largest RAF station in the UK, the popular collection of family houses promises a thriving neighbourhood complete with a new primary school, a village square, a local shop and plenty of green space.

Victory Fields’ three, four and five bedroom properties have already caught the attention of service personnel who have the added incentive of now being able to borrow up to 50 per cent of their annual salary interest free under Forces Help to Buy.

Designed to assist more military families own their own home, the scheme allows qualifying buyers to borrow up to a maximum of £25,000. It can be used towards a deposit and other costs such as solicitor’s and estate agent’s fees.

In fact, Victory Fields has a unique RAF pedigree which extends beyond its proximity to Brize Norton. The site was formerly RAF Rissington and is near the former base of the world famous Red Arrows air display team.

The Heritage Collection is another example: one of the former military buildings is being handsomely brought back to life as a pair of three-bedroom single-storey homes and a trio of four-bedroom homes.

Some of the home styles have even been named after aircraft chosen by local pupils in a school competition: Buckingham, Hawker and Whitworth.

It’s all helped put the high quality homes on the list for many of the 7,000-plus service personnel, contractors and civilian staff members who work at Brize Norton, home to the UK's Strategic and Tactical Air Transport and Air-to-Air Refuelling forces.

Linden Homes Thames Valley sales and marketing director, Steve Garton, said: “The combination of quality, location and surrounding countryside is making Victory Fields very popular among househunters from far and wide – and local service personnel are no exception.

“We have a wide variety of homes available to suit all sorts of buyers and Forces Help to Buy could be the step up that some people need to find their dream home and the lifestyle they’re been looking for.

“Victory Fields will be perfect for families to grow away from the crowds and noise of the city. Being close enough to some of the most picturesque towns in England, such as Oxford and Cheltenham, residents will never be short of things to do.”

The new community of over 300 homes commands outstanding views across the rolling landscape and will feature a proposed public house, gym and nursery, as well as a scattering of play areas, wildlife ponds and tennis courts. Nearby villages include Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Travelling to and from Victory Fields is straightforward – main roads link to the motorway network giving access to the M40, the M4 and the M5. The nearest train station is at Kingham, from where services can reach London Paddington in about an hour and a half. The nearest international airports are Birmingham and London Heathrow.

Families will look to Linden Homes’ properties for their customary character, quality and all-inclusive value including money and energy-saving features such as gas-fired condensing boilers and fitted UPVC double glazed windows.
