A fireworks display put on for the local Wickwar community took place on Saturday 6th November and helped raise much-needed funds for Holy Trinity Church, thanks to the support of Linden Homes, building locally at Saxon Gate.
Reverend Canon David Russell from Wickwar Parochial Church Council said: “We had a fantastic sell-out event at the weekend and it was wonderful to see so many members of the community enjoying the festivities. Unfortunately, we had to postpone last year’s celebration due to the restrictions so it was amazing to have a waiting list for tickets before they even went on sale!
“The event is our biggest fundraiser, so we are very grateful to Linden Homes for its contribution – it will make a huge difference and will help us maintain the church and its part in the life of the village. It is also a wonderful community event in bringing people back together, and the church is glad to be able to bring this about with the help and support of sponsors such as Linden Homes."
Site manager, Dave Gray commented: “We were very pleased to support the community fireworks event in Wickwar. It’s a much-talked about event locally and raises large funds for the village so we were delighted to be involved.”
Dave Gray has recently been awarded a coveted NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in Job Quality Award 2021, for building homes of an exceptional quality at Saxon Gate and goes through to the next round of the competition this month.
