Village Benefits In The Pipeline Thanks To New Homes At Victory Fields
06 Nov 2013

Villagers in Upper Rissington have benefits literally in the pipeline thanks to a string of utilities upgrades linked to Linden Homes’ nearby Victory Fields development.

Linden Homes and its construction partner, Bovis Homes, have appointed water, sewerage and gas companies to link up the high quality properties under construction near the former base of the world famous Red Arrows air display team.

The work to supply Victory Fields means a series of improvements will also be made available for the existing community – including the opportunity of mains gas to the village for the first time.

CM Utilities has been contracted to connect the mains gas supply to the development’s boundary with a pipe stretching more than a mile from Bourton-on-the-Water.

This main is due to be made live shortly and has capacity to serve the existing properties within the village, which has hitherto been reliant on gas deliveries.

Meanwhile, Albion Water has been selected to handle the water and sewerage. It will upgrade the water mains network feeding Upper Rissington, fit water meters, and carry out a programme of repairs and improvements to the sewerage system.

Works are due to start soon with completion anticipated by January 2014 when Albion Water will adopt the new mains network and will become the water provider for the existing residents within the village.

Albion Water will also take responsibility for the local sewage treatment works and will upgrade the plant to bring it up to current standards. It is expected that Albion Water will commence billing for water and sewerage from January 1st 2014.

For the electricity supply, the network is being reinforced with the first new substation, while new high voltage cables are being laid over several miles by SSE from Upper Rissington to Burford.

Linden Homes sales and marketing director, Steve Garton, said: “It’s very exciting to see the groundwork going in to supply Victory Fields. Importantly, Upper Rissington is going to benefit too from improved and robust utility supplies.

“I think the good things that Victory Fields is bringing to villagers show how our philosophy of delivering high quality homes runs beyond the building site and truly benefits the wider community.

“It’s going to be a wonderful place to live. Residents will enjoy beautiful homes in a thriving neighbourhood surrounded by stunning countryside – it’s going to be very popular. Househunters should register with us soon to get ahead of the rush.”

Victory Fields will comprise 368 homes centred round a village square with a local shop, pub, gym and nursery. A primary school will be built and residents will enjoy landscaped grounds featuring wildlife ponds, children’s play areas, recreation fields and tennis courts.

Linden Homes show properties have opened and over 70% of the houses released in the first phase have already been reserved. The first people to move in are expected by December 2013.

The school is currently scheduled for completion in the Autumn of 2014 and the community building by the latter part of 2014.
