However, with a recent report suggesting that a lack of suitable housing is preventing many over 55s in the UK from moving, it may be time for older home owners to think about a brand new, smaller property.
According to an annual homeowner survey conducted by YouGov (for the Home Owners Alliance and BLP Insurance), more than 500,000 homeowners aged 55+ want to move but can’t find the right property.
The main reason was lack of suitable housing, stress and upheaval, as well as moving away from friends were among the other obstacles.
