The World Of Work Appears On The Timetable At East Yorkshire School
07 Jul 2014

Pilot, footballer, famous actress or dancer – just some of the jobs children aspire to do when they are older!

But at a recent Industry Day held at East Yorkshire school Keyingham Primary, construction and architecture made a brief appearance on the timetable.

Youngsters aged between four and 10 were able to find out a little more about the house building industry thanks to Linden Homes North – when technical co-ordinator Mike Dee was invited to share some of his knowledge with the children.

Mike from the Hessle-based developer gave youngsters an insight into his role, guiding them through the construction process and talking about the importance of health and safety – which gave some of the pupils a chance to model some hi-vis work wear!

They also played a game to guess the number of bricks it takes to build a Linden Homes house!

Mike said: “It was a fantastic day and a wonderful experience to share information about my job with the children, and to be able to chat with them about the role of house builders within the local community and the consideration given to the environment when drawing plans for homes.

“The children were very responsive, and the safety gear talk and demonstration seemed to be a highlight of the sessions!”
