Orchard Grove A Peaceful Haven After A House Selling Storm
28 Feb 2012

Last summer Elayne Parsons thought she had found the home of her dreams: She had her heart set on an old house in the Middlesex village of Eastcote. But frustratingly, her plans to renovate the house and settle there came to nothing when the house sale abruptly fell through.

Disappointed, but undeterred, Elayne kept an open mind and, when walking through Ruislip with a friend some days later, she spotted the signs advertising Linden Homes’ new Orchard Grove development.

“We were walking up the road and we saw the Linden Homes’ hoardings and the building work beginning. I remember thinking ‘what a nice place to live’. I was still thinking about it when I got home, so I registered my interest on the company’s website. Soon after that I went along to an open evening and was able to look at the plans and artist’s impressions of the new homes. The funny thing is that I wasn’t sure at first – I wasn’t convinced by the external dark wood detail I’d seen on the plans… but a few days later I was walking past and noticed the show home was open. I went in and honestly fell in love with it. The wood looked really smart and it was exactly the sort of accommodation I needed – and of course it was in a great location.”

Elayne decided to move fast: “I paid the deposit straight away: I was that certain! The friend I was with laughed and said to me: ‘You were quicker handing over the deposit for your house than you were handing over the money for that new dress in Debenhams yesterday!’ ”

Elayne said that the incentives offered by Linden Homes were very helpful. Elayne used Linden Homes’ Assisted Move scheme* to help her through the house buying process and subsequent move:

“Using the Assisted Move scheme, my current house went back on the market: Linden Homes dealt with the estate agents for me and even paid their fees. The house sold straight away. You know, I really can’t think of a reason why anyone wouldn’t use this scheme.”

But it wasn’t plain sailing for Elayne. Unfortunately, out of the blue her buyers demanded an extra £15,000 off the agreed selling price two days before they were due to exchange. Elayne refused and her home went back on the market. It was a frustrating time, but it wasn’t long before another buyer was found.

Throughout all the stressful ups and downs, Elayne says the Linden Homes’ staff were fantastic: “The sales executives at Orchard Grove were great and supported me all the way through. Linden Homes’ agreed to keep the incentive going for me. They were as disappointed as I was when the sale of my old home fell through, but they were so clearly on my side and eventually the sale did go through and I was able to move in on 25th November.”

Elayne is now settling in at Orchard Grove in Ruislip with her 23 year old daughter and says it’s working really well: “We love the house and we love the area. You can stroll up to Ruislip High Street in a few minutes. We’ve got lots of friends nearby. At home my daughter has the middle floor, with her bedroom, her own bathroom and a third bedroom that we’ve converted into a living room for her – with a sofa bed for when her friends come to stay.

“As well as the great support I received from the sales staff, the guys on the building site have also been amazing: They helped me when I moved in and took away lots of the boxes for me. There’s nothing the staff here won’t do to help out. In fact I had some more packing cases to get rid of two days before Christmas – the guys saw me struggling with them and just took them all away for me.”
