No Mount-Ever-Resting For Local Developer’s Charity Coffers

Managing director of Linden Homes East Yorkshire, Mark Connors, was joined by a group of colleagues – and fellow hikers – to take on the Housebuilder Mountain Marathon. Team Linden successfully completed 26 miles over two gruelling days in the Lake District.

Mark said: “This was a very difficult challenge, but it was great to be joined by such enthusiastic team members and raise money for such an important cause along the way. Something tells me that Team Linden isn’t slowing down on their fundraising efforts, so don’t be surprised when you hear about our next challenge!”

The marathon was supported by colleagues from across Galliford Try, Linden Homes’ parent company, to raise money for the Youth Adventure Trust – along with participants from other major housebuilders.

The Trust works with vulnerable children aged 11-16 to help them make positive choices in life, fulfil their potential and provide experiences they wouldn’t have necessarily had the opportunity to have without its involvement.

No injuries occurred on the mountains, but it’s clear to see they’ve all been bitten by the fundraising bug.

In preparation for the event, the team staged its very own charity Tour De Linden – a static bike cycling challenge at the company’s head office in Doncaster, where staff took turns in pedalling the virtual 172-mile route, the distance between all its regional sites.

Raffles; bake sales; a sponsored skydive; and a business unit walk of Ladybower Reservoir in the Peak District; and much more have all generated towards a staggering total of £5,000.

Linden Homes East Yorkshire has confirmed they’re already planning more major fundraising events – including talks of an exclusive ball!
