New Homes At Heathlands: A New Standard Of Energy Efficiency
01 Feb 2017

In the last decade, constant updates and changes to UK building regulations in the pursuit of the zero carbon home has led to more and greater innovations in technology. It’s also resulted in a new generation of warmer, better insulated, highly efficient, cheaper to run new build homes.

The NewHomes* website says that, following the latest amendments to the way homes have to be built, brand new houses and apartments will be more efficient and cheaper to run than ever before.

They estimate the average yearly savings in energy costs, when you compare a three bedroom semi detached new build home to a renovated Victorian equivalent, could be as high as £1,220.

And they estimate a brand new four bedroom detached home could cost around £1,840 a year less to run in terms of energy spending than its Victorian equivalent.

In this cold winter weather, it’s food for thought - particularly for those people who might be considering downsizing: And who may well be thinking about selling an older, perhaps draughty, damp or very inefficient home in exchange for a new one.

Jo Dixon is the marketing manager at Linden Homes South:

“Energy efficient homes - like our new collection of houses and apartments at Heathlands in Frimley - allow you stay warm in winter without paying enormous fuel bills which is a priority for many of our customers - downsizers, up sizers and first time buyers alike.

“All new homes are, by law, required to have the best insulation, the most efficient boilers and excellent double glazing. Our two, three, four and five bedroom detached and semi-detached houses and coach houses at Heathlands have all been built to these same stringent energy standards.

“Even the refurbished Victorian ‘Ringwood Centre’ has to meet those standards. And the advantage with that, if you buy one of the apartments is you won’t have to choose between a ‘new’ or ‘old’ home: Our refurbished homes offer Victorian elegance and charm and a highly efficient specification. You have the advantages of both types of house.”

When you visit Heathlands, which is close Camberley in Surrey, you’ll see that the homes variously include features such as balconies, ensuite bathrooms, utility rooms, studies and patio doors into the garden: The kitchens and bathrooms in all the homes are fully fitted and beautifully finished.

And for peace of mind, all the Heathlands homes come with a 10 year NHBC builders’ warranty. To make your house move simpler, you can talk to Linden Homes about the Part Exchange scheme** and the Assisted Move scheme**.
