Medical Workers See Evolution Quarter As Perfect Base
09 Jul 2012

Medical professionals looking for a quality home close to work, which is more affordable than ever, have been showing keen interest in Linden Homes’ smart new development of Evolution Quarter in Orpington.

The area boasts three hospitals within just a few miles of the stylish collection of houses, which is rejuvenating this neighbourhood of the thriving market town with its easy links to central London.

Nearby are the NHS’s Orpington Hospital and the Princess Royal University Hospital, as well as the private BMI Chelsfield Park Hospital.

Their proximity has made Evolution Quarter a natural choice for medical professionals who want to be near work and enjoy an easy commute, but also appreciate the quality and style offered by these sought-after two and three-bedroom properties.

Among them are Dr Laurentiu Arion and his wife, who rent a home near Finsbury Park and are expecting a new baby soon. They have bought a three-bedroom house to be nearer to Caterham, where Dr Arion works.

They had been looking for several months before they found the home they wanted. Dr Arion said: “There are also a few hospitals in the area close to Evolution Quarter. It was one of the things that we thought about when we decided to buy here.

“The location is good, the facilities are good and it is in close proximity to London and in one hour you can reach the coast and get to Europe on the Eurostar. The airports are within easy reach too.”

Two other hospital workers are Stella Roberts (33) and her husband, Robert Rosario (36), who both work in the NHS and are currently renting in Peckham with a three-year-old son and six-month-old daughter.

She is a nurse at King’s College Hospital but said moving to their three-bedroom house in Orpington would also give her the added option in the future of working closer to home.

“We were particularly looking for a new-build home,” she explained. “Evolution Quarter was good value, a good location to travel to work in London, and it was where we wanted to move to. We’re looking forward to seeing how it looks.

“With older houses, there is lots of work to do but with new homes you do not have to do anything. The Linden Homes sales staff were so friendly and helpful they gave us the confidence to buy off-plan – they have been very good and we have been very happy with the service.”

One of the key reasons to buy in Orpington was St James' Roman Catholic Primary School, where Stella and Robert are very keen to enrol their children eventually.

People securing one of the two or three-bedroom homes at Evolution Quarter will enjoy the excellent range of shopping nearby, as well as golf courses, a leisure centre, cinema and great transport links to London and beyond – there’s always something for families to do.

Orpington is a thriving market town with an array of restaurants and bars including the Michelin Star restaurant Chapter One.

It is just 16 minutes by train from London Bridge, and 20 to 35 minutes to Victoria, Waterloo and Charing Cross. Access to the M25 is an easy three miles and for holidays and trips, Gatwick is about 36 minutes away and Heathrow one hour and 10 minutes.

Linden Homes South East managing director Steve Bangs said: “Evolution Quarter really does have a lot to offer: its location, local facilities and excellent value, and our usual keen attention to detail and quality.

“With the financial help we can offer through a range of assistance schemes to first-time and more experienced buyers, this superb development is a perfect opportunity to either get on or move up the property ladder.”
