Local Young Artists' Visions Of Bow On Display
11 Nov 2015

Six children from Wellington Primary School in Bow have been given the opportunity to see their original artwork displayed in public. Their pieces, designed around the theme “What Bow means to me”, have been produced and printed onto the hoardings at Linden Homes’ St Clements development on the site of the old St Clements Hospital.

Linden Homes had invited all the children at the school to enter a piece of artwork representing how they see their neighbourhood: The judges then had the pleasure of sifting through all the very original and colourful entries.

Karen Roake the sales and marketing director for Linden Homes’ Eastern said it was a tough job: “The judges had to choose from some lovely and very original interpretations of the title. All of the entries were very colourful. They also had to take into account of what would look good scaled up on the hoardings. It was difficult to choose the winners.”

In the end one winner was selected from each year. The young artists – whose ages range from 6 to 11 – gathered at the development site to view their work.

The school also received a £200 donation from Linden Homes, as a thank you to the pupils for their hard work and inspiring ideas. The teachers are planning on putting these funds towards art supplies for the school year ahead. Mandy Kellegher, Deputy Head teacher at Wellington Primary School commented: “The children were excited about the project and the idea that their art work might be displayed in their local area. They were very engaged by the topic ‘What Bow means to me’ and were keen to include the arts skills they have learnt in school such as printing, painting, collage and drawing.”

Meanwhile, behind the beautiful new hoardings, work continues to transform the old Grade II listed hospital buildings, which are being refurbished and converted into beautiful new apartments. They will be complemented by a range of elegant, high quality new build homes. A selection of new build homes are now available to buy.
