Leading UK housebuilder Linden Homes has announced its support to the annual Women in Property National Student Awards in 2017. This will be the second consecutive year that the company has sponsored the organisation, following a successful partnership in 2016 which came to a close with the awards ceremony in September.
The 2016 National Student Awards saw 47 Universities nominating a total of 86 students for the accolades. Each entrant is put forward by her university course leader and interviewed by a regional panel from the industry including members of Linden Homes’ senior team.
The winner was crowned at the awards dinner, taking place at the prestigious Claridge’s Hotel in Mayfair. Sheffield Hallam Real Estate student, Yasmine Lunn, was awarded the 2016 winner’s trophy along with £700, after some difficult deliberation from the judging panel.
Following her win, Yasmine said: "This whole process has been so positive and a real eye opener. I've learned to perform outside of my comfort zone, think on my feet and have developed relationships with some great people in the industry."
The 2016 National Student Awards took place as part of Women in Property’s tenth anniversary year. Now, the 2017 Awards preparations are underway, with Universities all over the country being encouraged to put forward their best female property students to be considered for next year. Regional finalists will be decided following interviews with a panel of regional experts, and will be awarded a £300 prize and assistance towards finding a summer work placement.

Linden Homes actively works to encourage women into the sector from all walks of life and a variety of backgrounds. The company recently bolstered its operations across the South of the business with the announcement of four new female sales and marketing directors.
Tom continued: “It is really encouraging to see more women joining the industry, both in our company and across the property sector as a whole. There is a diverse range of opportunities for women both on and off site within the market – we hope that our continued involvement with the Women in Property National Student Awards will help to boost the number of women joining the sector.”
