Linden Homes Set To Shape Britain's Biggest New Town
24 Feb 2017

Linden Homes will be a key developer in the construction of Northstowe, Britain’s biggest new town since Milton Keynes was built in 1967.

The award-winning house builder has successfully secured planning permission from Cambridgeshire County Council to build a collection of homes at the county’s major new development, on the eastern corner of Longstanton’s regenerated golf course.

Linden Homes will provide 271 of the 10,000 properties set to be completed at Northstowe.

Comprising of 60 two bedroom, 114 three bedroom, 62 four bedroom and 19 five bedroom homes, an additional 11 three bed and 5 four bed properties will be affordable housing.

The development will be bordered by green, public open space, including the Eastern water park and two greenways for commuter cycle paths. 560 parking spaces will also be built on site.

Designed under Northstowe’s premise as a ‘highly connected development’, the Linden Homes properties will be within walking distance from the new town’s central facilities, including a mixed use local centre for retail, leisure and food and drink purposes, a primary school and a household recycling centre.

Approximately five miles from Cambridge city centre, Northstowe is also extremely well served by transport links to the A14, A10 and M11, and the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway is adjacent to the development’s eastern boundary.

Roseanne Bullen, Linden Homes’ regional sales and marketing manager, said: “Even from the earliest stages of planning, we look to fit our properties around the needs of our residents.

“The location of our Northstowe development means that Cambridgeshire house hunters won’t only benefit from a high quality new home, they will be at the heart of an entire new community with fresh amenities, job opportunities and resources.

“Additionally, the whole town is made for convenience and can be easily navigated on foot or bike, creating a safer environment for families. We’re extremely excited to be part of shaping an entirely new town; it’s a huge opportunity and will bring a great deal of economic and social investment to Cambridgeshire, as well as much-needed new homes.”

Demonstrating a commitment to sustainable living, each Linden Homes property will come with water saving features, including a water butt to collect and store rainwater, and construction details such as insulation to minimise heat loss and improve air tightness.
