Linden Homes Secures Land For Brand New Reading Development
25 Jun 2018

The award-winning house builder has successfully secured planning permission from South Oxfordshire District Council (SCDC) to build a collection of homes on land north of Reade’s Lane, Sonning Common.

Linden Homes will provide 50 new homes featuring a balanced range of 30 open market and 20 affordable units, including one and two bed apartments and two, three, four and five bed houses.

The development will contain green, public open space, and pedestrian routes will be provided throughout the site. Internal roads have also been designed to minimize vehicle speeds and create a safe environment for cyclists and pedestrians.

Designed with the feedback from local stakeholders and residents in mind, four hectares of land at the development will be transferred to SCDC for future recreational facilities such as sports pitches, tennis courts and indoor sports halls.

The development is approximately 20 minutes from Reading train station and well served by transport links to the M4, making it also very well connected.

Suzanne Irons, Linden Homes Thames Valley Sales and Marketing Director, said: “Even from the earliest stages of planning, we look to fit our properties around the needs of our residents.

“The location of our Sonning Common development means that Reading house-hunters won’t only benefit from a high quality new home, they will be at the heart of a new community with amenities, open space and job opportunities. Up to 75 new jobs will be created on-site during the construction phase of the new development. There will also be opportunities for local people seeking apprenticeships in the building industry.”

The provision of these new homes at Sonning Common was identified as part of the emerging Neighbourhood Development Plan, contributing to SODC and Sonning Common’s housing stock. A package of S106 financial contributions to SODC will also be invested in local infrastructure and service provision.
