Linden Homes has scooped the Housebuilder of the Year title for the second year running at the Ideal Home Show Blue Ribbon Awards.
The 2014 awards, hosted by architect and television presenter George Clarke, are a mark of excellence in the housebuilding industry and celebrate the best examples of design, innovation and development.
Linden Homes retained the prize at a ceremony held at the Ideal Home Show at Earls Court in London. The company stood out as the only top 10 housebuilder building more homes now than in the 2007 peak. In 2013, its housebuilding margin increased by nine per cent; operating profit rose 11 per cent; and sales rose by 16 per cent over the previous year. Linden Homes Western is building the Impact development of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes and two-bedroom apartments on Nightingale Way, Midsomer Norton.
Through its Linden Way initiative it is nurturing a culture of exceptional customer service, while The Linden Homes Foundation seeks to leave positive legacies among communities, people and the environment wherever it builds.
The 12-strong judging panel was made up of property experts including George Clarke, designer Wayne Hemingway and Royal Institute of British Architects president Stephen R. Hodder.
The post-awards official commentary explained the judges’ decision: “The judges' comment that Linden Homes are ‘good all rounders, and more committed to eco than most’ gives an idea of the criteria by which the modern housebuilder must be judged.
“They also thought it worthwhile to send a message of support to the company's efforts in customer service, in a period during which turnover has doubled.
“The 'Linden Way' aims to revolutionise the customer experience and radically change the company's culture and working practices placing customers at the forefront of every decision. Linden remains the only top 10 housebuilder building more homes now than in the 2007 peak.”
Linden Homes Group managing director Andrew Richards said: “Winning Housebuilder of the Year here is fantastic because the Ideal Home Show is fundamentally all about good design and doing what is right for the customer.
“Retaining the title for the second year running is particularly encouraging because it means recognition for our success in maintaining market-leading standards, skills and service that our teams have displayed throughout the year.
“We want to take this further and continue to provide excellent homes in thriving communities where people want to live. That’s our essential goal and awards like this show we are heading strongly in the right direction.”
