Linden Homes Helps Birds To Nest At Birmingham School

Linden Homes has been helping Forestdale School, in Northfield, southwest Birmingham, to learn more about birds and the preservation of wildlife, by donating some nest boxes, as part of Nest Box Week 2012.

Organised by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), Britain’s leading bird research charity, Nest Box Week runs 14–21 February and encourages people to put up nest boxes in their local area, in order to promote and enhance biodiversity and conservation of breeding birds and wildlife.

Linden Homes is currently building around the corner from the school, at its development, The Lanes, on Frogmill Road. Site manager John Tobin went along to the school to present the pupils with their nest boxes.

John comments: “We’re in the business of building homes, so know, more than most, how important it is to try to preserve the environment and local wildlife – that’s why we were happy to donate these nest boxes to Forestdale School. With the Worcestershire countryside on the school’s doorstep, the boxes will hopefully be able to attract some interesting bird species.”

Rebecca Foster, head teacher at Forestdale School, said: “The environment, which includes wildlife, is certainly an important part of the school curriculum, so we were delighted that Linden Homes was able to donate these nest boxes. I’m sure that all of the pupils will be keeping a keen eye on them, to spot any birds which decide to set up a home at the school.”
