Home Is Where The Work Is - According To Latest Research On Employment Trends
16 Jun 2014

IF you are among the rising number of people working from home, new build can tick your work/life balance boxes.

From commuters with computers to busy parents juggling a work/life balance – the latest figures around working from home show the trend for teleworking is rising.

According to a report just out from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the number of people opting to work from home has risen to its highest level since records began.

There were 4.2 million home working in the first three months of 2014 – that’s just under 14 per cent of the workforce – and a record since measurements started back in 1998.

The figure includes people who work from their own home, and those who use their home as a base but work in different places.

And with a range of fantastic new homes designed to include studies or home offices, and carefully selected locations in commutable retreats – developer Linden Homes North can tick all the boxes.

Linden Homes sales director Steve Woomble said: “With these latest figures in mind, it is easy to see why people looking to move to a new home not only take commutable locations into account, but the desire for a property that allows them flexibility in their job.

“Thanks to a carefully designed property portfolio, developers like ourselves are giving customers greater control over their lives by building in carefully chosen locations with excellent road and rail links.

He added: “With their extremely busy lives juggling work, home, care and family – being able to enjoy the flexibility that having an office from home can offer is hugely attractive to many of our customers.

“This can range from someone who is based at home for the majority of their working week, or those who simply need a temporary and more convenient base away from the office – for commuting or caring commitments.”

Other findings survey http://bbc.in/1l1nRuE includes:

  • The majority of people working from home (63 per cent) regard themselves as self-employed compared to 34 per cent who work for a company or organisation.
  • Just under 15 per cent of home workers are manager or senior officials, while 35 per cent are professionals.

Linden Homes is currently building at locations across East Riding, North and West Yorkshire and has developments in North East Lincolnshire.
