Happy Family Delighted With Their Moving Experience At Fernley Park
19 Mar 2013

A lively young child and another on the way have transformed the lives of Ross and Katie White in a way familiar to happy couples up and down the country.

The prospect of a new member of the family joining them in July made them rethink their priorities and suddenly extra rooms and a garden became important for them and their growing family – and they found the perfect place at Fernley Park in Uckfield.

Ross (39), who runs his own IT recruitment company Focus Select Ltd, and Katie (35) used to live in Lewes where they enjoyed their town centre two-bedroom mews house but lacked a garden, beds for guests and guaranteed quiet.

Now they have a four-bedroom detached house where they can welcome visitors to stay, and with plenty of outdoor space for their young daughter to play. They are just a short drive from their old neighbourhood and love the peaceful surroundings where they moved just in time to celebrate Christmas last year.

Ross said: “The reason for us moving out of Lewes was that although we had both lived there for 30 years, prices were going through the roof. We wanted to find a family house that was value for money.

“The property at Fernley Park was head and shoulders above the rest – and we really trawled the market! We looked at properties right across the area.

“When we looked at the show home the quality was excellent. In fact, I spoke to one of the builders as he was walking past and he said he had worked on plenty of developments and this was definitely one where he would buy a house!”

The character two, three and four-bedroom family homes are surrounded by parkland and the landscape of the Sussex Weald, enjoying scenic views, rivers and woodlands. The friendly town of Uckfield is on their doorstep and the south coast less than an hour away by car.

Inside, fully-fitted kitchens come as standard alongside top quality fixtures and fittings and high level energy efficiency, as well as fully turfed gardens. A 10-year NHBC guarantee and two-year customer care warranty give peace of mind too.

“We wanted a garden, a bigger house and it ticked all the boxes and more,” continued Ross. “I have been nothing but impressed from beginning to end. What we wanted was the outdoor space which we now have in ample amounts.

“We have a separate dining area and a decent living space to a high standard. What really makes it stand out is the space. In the lounge we have a mezzanine and when you’re in the dining room you can look up and see the viewing area, and the big windows open out to the garden.

“The living area works so well for having a family as it is all very accessible and easily viewable – we can put our daughter out in the garden to play and we can see her. And our bedroom is on the top level and it’s huge and takes up the whole floor. It’s a great place to retreat to.”

When Ross has some free time he enjoys a round at the nearby East Sussex National Golf Club. Designed by one of Jack Nicklaus’s course architects, it has hosted some of the world’s leading players at two European Opens.

“We seem to be a lot happier,” Ross said. “It’s nice living in the centre of town but with a child it’s difficult. So it is great we have the children’s play area here and we have the big garden – it’s a lot more family friendly.”

The whole experience for Ross and Katie has been a pleasure, he said, adding: “It was a nice change to speak to sales staff who knew what they were talking about. I would recommend Linden Homes 110 per cent, without a shadow of a doubt.”

Uckfield itself provides good standard primary and secondary schools, as well as local nursery groups and a soft play centre for youngsters. Trains from Uckfield station run direct to London Bridge in just over an hour and to Brighton in under two hours.

For other eligible house-hunters climbing further up the property ladder, moving to Fernley Park can be hassle-free with Linden Homes Part Exchange scheme. Once buyers choose from a selected range, within seven days a valuation on their property will be made by three local estate agents.

Next a cash offer is made, as long as your current property is not more than 70 per cent of the value of what you want to buy. The only thing left to do then is set a move-in date and get packing.

Alternatively, Linden Homes will help through its Assisted Move service where its team works closely with estate agents to sell your old home within an agreed period while the new property is kept reserved.
