The village retained its crown earlier this month by winning the ‘Best Kept Large Village’ award, which judges over 40 locations across Staffordshire on their tidiness and overall appearance.
It’s the third time in the last seven years that Gnosall has won the award, scooping the prize in 2010 before back-to-back wins in 2016 and 2017.
To celebrate this latest success, a new welcome sign and flowerbed is set to be installed at the entrance to the village, partly funded by Linden Homes, which is building The Hollies development off Knightley Road, featuring a stunning selection of 4 & 5 bedroom homes for sale.
And Mr Clarke believes the award will encourage more visitors to come to Gnosall.
He said: “Gnosall is a fantastic place to live and to be recognised once again as the Best Kept Village is very important to us as a community.
“We attract a lot of visitors through the Shropshire Union Canal, which runs by the village. With back-to-back awards, I’m hoping more people will come through Gnosall and explore the village and see why we have done so well in the past few years.
“It’s a big win for the village’s businesses too, as an increase in footfall will mean more trade. We’ve worked closely with companies this year, who have really bought in to the awards and made the extra effort to keep their grounds well maintained.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to this award. It’s bought the village together and given residents a further sense of pride of living in Gnosall.”
The new welcome sign and flower bed have been installed at a cost of around £2,500.
Linda Huntingdon, Head of Sales for Linden Homes West Midlands, said: “Gnosall is a beautiful part of Staffordshire, which has rightly been recognised for its tidiness and community spirit.
“We’re extremely proud of our involvement in the new welcome sign, which I’m sure will look fantastic.”
