After years of renting, first-time buyer Lazina Chowdhury was delighted to find a place of her own at Boxgrove Gardens in Guildford.
She spotted her superb one-bedroom apartment while browsing online and was attracted by the quality of the area and the features offered by a new-build home that she had struggled to find in older properties.
Boxgrove Gardens is a development by Housebuilder of the Year Linden Homes and boasts three, four and five-bedroom signature houses as well as stylish one and two-bedroom apartments.
The prestigious collection is designed by award-winning architects John Thompson & Partners, and is spread out among beautifully landscaped greens and winding, tree-lined pathways.
Lazina (33) was renting with a friend in Farnham when she began house-hunting and her schedule meant she had to move fast. Several weeks since moving in after a hassle-free purchase, she is enjoying the freedom of finally having her own place.
“The apartment was something that I came across when I was browsing on the internet,” she explained. “It was done up so nicely and was ready to move in.
“It had all the things I wanted, such as the bedroom being en suite and all the other modern features which many of the older properties did not have.
“I have had a very good experience, and Boxgrove Gardens seems a really good mix – I could have easily bought an apartment in town, but there is a family feel here and it’s very close to town anyway. It’s just a stone’s throw from the centre.
“The process has been very easy. Linden Homes have helped with doing all the paperwork and everything happened within eight weeks. I needed to move quickly at the time and everything possible was done for me.”
Lazina’s job as a mechanical engineer entails frequent travelling so being based in Guildford is very convenient too, with its mainline station, handy road links and proximity to the major international airports of Heathrow and Gatwick.
“It’s somewhere I really liked,” she said. “One of the attractions was definitely the area – the development is in a nice neighbourhood and it’s so spacious here.”
Boxgrove Gardens has quickly become one of Guildford’s most desirable new areas, with its airy roof conversions, timber detailing, spacious balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows surrounded by lush, green, modern gardens.
For other first-time buyers and homeowners alike, the government-backed NewBuy scheme can help with the challenge of raising a big enough deposit. It offers fixed rate mortgages of up to 95 per cent on selected apartments and houses up to £500,000 across all Linden Homes’ developments in England.
And for current owners, Linden Homes also offers its Part Exchange scheme where eligible buyers choose from a selected range of homes and within seven days a valuation on their property will be made by three local estate agents, followed by a cash offer.
