Developer Joins Grimsby Hospice’s Milestone Celebrations

A Book charting the history of Grimsby – and celebrating the town’s St Andrew’s Hospice – has attracted the backing of developer Linden Homes East Yorkshire.

The company has its own long-standing association with the town and has built a number of new homes in Grimsby over the years, but is now supporting the hospice in helping to mark its 40th anniversary.

A limited edition hard-backed coffee table book – due to be launched at the end of September - has been written by local author Dr Steven Bloy, together with Ian Davey and hospice staff, to commemorate the special milestone year.
There will be 500 numbered limited editions in the first print run of 1,000 with all profits going directly to Hospice funds.

Linden Homes is one many businesses supporting the venture, and its 2011 Christmas Appeal staged to collect toys and gifts for St Andrew’s children’s hospice is mentioned in the book.

Sue Grace is a volunteer at the hospice. She said: “This is an exciting project and the book will celebrate 40 years of making each day count for patients, families and carers in North East Lincolnshire.

“The book is about the history of the Hospice as well as four decades of local history of Grimsby with lots of local businesses and people mentioned throughout. The book is a visual treat packed full of photographs from across the 40 years!”

Steve Woomble, Linden Homes East Yorkshire sales director, said: “St Andrew’s Hospice and the fantastic work it does, is well-known and highly respected through the Grimsby area.

“We are delighted to have a link to the hospice and to support this wonderful venture in their anniversary year – and wish them all the very best with selling the book.”

The book priced £9.99 with limited editions at £19.99 will be sold at the Hospice, its charity shops and other selected outlets, with all proceeds going directly toward the running costs of specialist care services.
