Community Works Completed At Chippenham RFC And Allington Cricket Club
08 Jan 2019

Chippenham RFC and the newly formed Allington Cricket Club have wonderful new community facilities, thanks to The Park development in Chippenham, which is being created by Linden Homes and Sovereign Housing Association.

The Park is providing 76 new homes on the former Westinghouse playing fields, just off Park Avenue. As part of the development, the joint venture has created new amenities at Chippenham Rugby Club, including:

  • A new rugby pitch and floodlighting
  • An enhanced existing rugby pitch with floodlighting
  • A changing room extension
  • A kitchen extension with a new kitchen and appliances
  • A new cricket pavilion
  • A new cricket pitch
  • Cricket training nets, covers and a scoreboard

Ian Banister, chair of Chippenham RFC said: “We are absolutely delighted with the additional facilities provided by Linden Homes. As a club we have been impressed by the professionalism shown by the team at Linden to deliver on what they promised and the feedback from our members has been very positive. Thank you from everyone at the club.”

Started in 1929, Chippenham Rugby Club has 20 teams and over 1,000 members – from seniors to girls and boys as young as five. It is used six days a week, has ample parking and a thriving clubhouse.

Martin White, finance director for Linden Homes, said: “We are pleased to provide these fantastic new facilities for the local community. The new pavilion is already a hub of activity and it is wonderful to see the work finished. We’re delighted it’s all been so warmly received and we look forward to following their sporting progress!”

Mark Judge, development committee member at Sovereign, added: “As a social housing provider we’re always keen to be part of work that enhances community facilities. At Sovereign we’re about more than just homes, we’re about making great places for people to live. We look forward to many more developments of this kind.”

The works were completed as part of The Park’s development. Tucked away in a quiet residential location, The Park offers a beautiful collection of three and four bedroom houses and has proved very popular with homebuyers.
